Preparing Background Images for WordPress
There is much to know about preparing background images for WordPress. Sure, in the following video, we are going to share with you how to add your images to your WordPress site, but before we move ahead with that, there are some major considerations you might want to think about.
When preparing background images for WordPress, you want to first of all think about the size of the file you want to use, and how it is going to show up on your site. Oh, you think I´m insulting your intelligence eh, I don´t mean it like that. What I mean by size is the file “weight” of the image. Is the image 10k or 5 gig right out of your cell phone? After the weight of the image, what is the width and height? Then the is the question, “What does any browser do by default when you add a background image to a page?” And finally, how does the particular theme you are using deal with background images in your WordPress Site.
In this video, I´m working with a theme that uses background images in a way I have never seen before in any other theme. This is why it is so important to understand CSS if you are going to be in control of your WordPress Site(s).
When preparing background images for WordPress, it also helps to understand not only what the html aspects are, but the CSS aspects as well. Then there is the illusion factor of what you want to get done. Then there is the default browser factor. What will all browsers do by default with your background images?
Then, when preparing background image for WordPress, one must consider how you actually want to use the image. Do you want it to display in the default tiled method? Do you want it to display only along the top of the page? How about only on the Side of the page? How can you make the background image work with the theme header logo?
